Ferragost is a nice little extra for those who can't get enough of the Lumatere Chronicles (read: everyone who has read them). It focuses on Celie's attempt to obtain a Yut chronicle from a neighbouring kingdom for the priest-king of Lumatere. She is staying in a castle on an isolated island, and the story quickly turns into a locked-room mystery, as one of her fellow guests winds up dead. Celie's investigation into the death is interesting but not really relevant to the main Lumatere series. The budding relationship between Celie and Banyon, the keeper of the castle, was the best part of this story for me; the tension between them was delicious and left me wanting more. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a bit more about Banyon and whether he and Celie ended up together in Quintana of Charyn, although with all the private discussions she had with Isaboe... I'm guessing yes!
